Our Commercial
Vehicles

Mercedes-Benz
Commercial Vehicles division represents a commercial vehicle benchmark
brand in the commercial vehicle sector. The division is intent on supplying
the best possible product through the use of innovative technology.
Included in the MBCV line-up are the Sprinter, MB800, Atego and Actros
ranges. Among these, the Sprinter and the MB800 are truly versatile
workhorses designed to handle rugged African conditions while the Actros
and Atego ranges are best suited to heavy industry.
The
division also supplies buses and people transportation vehicles. In
an attempt to address the growing transport demands of South African
commuters, the company has formed a People Transport division. The key
thrust of this division is the tender for the South African Government
's Taxi Recapitalisation Programme. DCSA has tendered to supply 18-seater
Sprinter taxis and 35-seater OF8000 bus chassis with Marco Polo bodies.
The company has built prototypes of the 18 and 35-seater, and is currently
conducting customer testing. DCSA hopes to use the expertise and knowledge
gained from the taxi project to develop 21st century people transport
solutions.

Freightliner, which aims
to be the top-selling American truck in South Africa, provides customers
with cost effective solutions for long haul highway and specialist applications.
Purchased by Daimler-Benz AG in 1981, Freightliner remains the biggest
seller of Class 8 vehicles worldwide. The Freightliner brand was introduced
to South African public for the first time in 1996, offering an affordable
range that provides safety, performance and comfort.

Western
Star offers small-scale mining and earth works operators efficient
and cost effective transport solutions. This through the provision of
high performance rigid trucks via DCSA's Freightliner division and dealer
network. The Western Star range of trucks is ideally suited to revolutionise
the South African opencast mining and mineral industry as well as abnormal
on- and off-road haulage.

DaimlerChrysler
AG recently bought a 37 per cent share in the Mitsubishi Corporation
to increase its market share in the strong Asian markets. DaimlerChrysler
South Africa is one of the first markets to incorporate Mitsubishi
Motors products in its line-up. This includes the popular Mitsubishi
Canter range. Mitsubishi's medium-sized Canter trucks are a reflection
of their long-standing relationship with South Africa - some 21 000
Mitsubishi Canter trucks have been sold in this country.
